Background of Raipur upazila Raipur upazila of Laxmipur district was established on 15 July 1918 with 10 unions. After the publication of the gazette notification on 21 September of that year, the activities of Raipur Thana were officially started from 1 January 1918. Later it was declared as Raipur Upazila in 1983. Raipur upazila is situated between 23 ৯ 29 'and 23 ° 42' north latitudes and between 90 ° 59 'and 91 ৫ 05' longitudes.
Brammanpara and Muradnagar upazilas to the north, Chandina upazila to the south, Muradnagar upazila to the west, Burichang and Brammanpara upazilas to the east. Naming of the upazila Raipur was named after the local zamindar Raybahadur Mohan Roy during the British rule.
